Peer Gynt, liar extraordinaire, grows up in a valley in Jotunheimen, where he wanders around in the mountains and tells tall tales about the adventures he has there. The life of a Norwegian farmer’s isn’t enough for him: his thirst for adventure and lack of any sense of responsibility drive him out into the big wide world. We follow Peer on his voyage while his devoted mother Åse and his beloved Solveig sit waiting for him to come back home.

The play Peer Gynt is a masterwork and a key part of Norway’s cultural heritage. This is the second book in a new series for children about the works of Henrik Ibsen. With the aid of illustrations and simplified text suitable for younger readers, the series aims to introduce Ibsen’s plays to new generations all over the world.
