Overview Kometjenta

Thirteen-year-old Sol discovers that her parents have been sharing pictures of her on social media since she was born, without asking for her consent.

As a revenge of sorts, or perhaps an attempt to regain control, she decides to stop talking.

Soon afterwards, a voice addresses her. This gives Sol access to an inner, free world that soon interweaves with – and affects – her physical reality.

«It is a strong novel, which uncompromisingly follows Sol's gaze. It is not just beautiful, what she sees. (...) It is easy to see that Durnak is also a visual artist. Sol's imaginations literally explode in color, which makes the text lively and tactile. (...) It is a touching book, and one that will probably resonate particularly with young readers.»
NRK, five/six stars

«... a nuanced exploration of how adult society can (mis)interpret teenage rebellion in a public that is literally overflowing with discussion about possible connections between young people's screen use, privacy and mental health. Durnak's story about Sol invites us to wonder what might be lost if children and young people's possible forms of resistance are understood exclusively through the lens of diagnoses.»

Reviews Kometjenta

Anne Cathrine Straume, NRK.no
